McGill will be represented in three talks at this year’s Northeast Linguistics Society (NELS), to be held October 19–21st at the City University of New York. 5th year PhD student Sasha Simonenko will present “Microvariation in head-exponent alignment: Finno-Ugric”. Jessica Coon will be involved in two talks, one a collaborative presentation with McGill alum and recent faculty lecturer Alan Bale (Concordia), titled “Classifiers are for numerals not for nouns: Evidence from Mi’gmaq and Chol”, and a second presentation titled “Predication, predicate fronting, and what it takes to be a verb”.
